18 November 1999

Well, it looks like The Headquarters has won the day by a considerable margin. There does not appear to be sufficient support for the North Annandale, following last Wednesday's visit, to knock The HQ off its perch.

So all that's left now is to make sure that everyone knows where the venue is!

See you at The HQ next Wednesday.

11 November 1999

After late lobbying and subsequent compromises between the YES and NO Parties last Wednesday (10 Nov), it was decided to visit the North Annandale Hotel next Wednesday (17 Nov) as the last of the local pubs worth considering. It polled second highest in places to visit next. Also, the NA had been proposed for evaluation, however, had not been included on the original list of pubs faxed. To correct this error, it seems only fair that we should at least visit the North Annandale.

Owing to the large swing towards the NO vote (settle at a venue now) and significant preferences towards The Headquarters as the permanent base, it seems most likely that The HQ will be the venue for the following and subsequent weeks. It appears that IT'S TIME! This, of course, cannot be verified until the North Annandale has been properly evaluated.

The Pub Preferences Referendum Returning Officer has received a further 10 ballot papers since the initial poll on wednesday 3 November. This brings the total to 24. Latest results are below. Additional votes will be accepted up until next Wednesday 17 November.

Online Realtime Analysis

A swing to the NO case (stop looking) this week, up from 50% to 58%, with 33% YES and 8% UNDECIDED. The Headquarters pulls ahead as the preferred long term base with the Friend In Hand in second with 4 votes. The North Annandale's low poll may be due to it not having been visited yet, however, it is second in the list of places to visit next.

As a result of late lobbying at The HQ last Wed. several NO party supporters conceded that we should at least visit the North Annandale to evaluate it. Unless this visit causes a huge swing towards the NA it is most likely that The HQ will be selected as the final resting place beginning from the following Wed. night (24 Nov).

Quotable Quotes

The following quotes from voting forms made it all worthwhile:

"We'd like to thank our manager, our agents, mum, dad and the aliens"
Hmmm, some serious substance abuse involved in that one I'm sure!

"HQ... because it doesn't have security cameras"
From the same form as above... serious paranoia!?

"Reopen the Harold"
Well, hopefully that may one day happen!

"No Tally Ho" (at the Aussie Youth)
A very legit cause for major concern!

"Let's do it!" (stop at the HQ)
It certainly looks that way now.

"I want to be where the people are and I don't want any bad feelings."
Nice sentiments. This democratic poll will hopefully help to reduce any further friction.

"I hate you..."
No prizes for guessing whose form this came from!!

"You're doing a great job, Pete. Thanks."
My favourite response, followed by...

"This questionnaire is elegant, well thought out. Yours, an arselicking respondent."
Now that's what I like to hear!!!
